The Seniors Dinner held at Sandwick Hall on Friday 28th February was a huge success, hosting over 100 local people in a community get-together. Organised by the Sandwick Hall and Recreation Association Enterprise (S.H.A.R.E), the evening was an open invitation to anyone over 60 and from Stenish, Plasterfield, Sandwick, Parkend, Holm, Mackenzie Estate, Melbost, Branahuie, Braighe Road promising delicious food and great company.
Community-owned wind farm, Point and Sandwick Trust made a contribution of £5,000 to Sandwick Hall and Recreation Association, some of which went towards the costs of the Seniors Dinner. Fantastic entertainment was provided by Shocky and Alex Murdo, followed by some Gaelic tunes from Murray Begg.
Angus McCormack, Honourary President of PST commented, “It was a great night with over one hundred people present and a very happy atmosphere. The young volunteers serving did a superb job of making everyone feel welcome and adding much enjoyment to the proceedings. The food, entertainment, fantastic raffle and company made for a splendid night despite the fierce winds outside and I was pleased to say a few words on behalf of PST who provided funding towards the evening”.
General Manager DJ MacSween added, “Providing support for this kind of community event is exactly what PST was set up to do, bringing people together and making our communities a positive, friendly place to live with wellbeing at the heart of our activities. Our ongoing support for Sandwick Hall and Recreation Association will continue and we are looking forward to hearing more of their plans for the future.”
