A great day out for P2B Community Association

Aug 28, 2025

The P2B Community Association’s Annual Bus Trip was a great success on Saturday, 23 August, with residents aged 60+ from Parkend, Mackenzie Estate, Holm, Holm Road, Melbost, Branahuie and Braighe Road enjoying a scenic day out around the Westside and Ness.

The day out began with a tour around the Westside, stopping for a light lunch at Doune Braes Hotel before a visit to Gearrannan Blackhouse Village.  Gearrannan proved very popular with lots of visitors exploring the historic village and listening to stories of times gone by.

The trip continued on to the lighthouse in Ness before visiting the Charity Shop and Cross Stores, where everyone enjoyed some Niseach-style shopping. The day concluded with a wonderful dinner at the Borve Country House Hotel before setting off for home.

The outing was warmly received by all who took part, offering both a chance to enjoy the island’s scenery and an opportunity to come together as neighbours and friends.

The P2B Community Association said of the trip, “We are delighted that so many residents joined us for this year’s trip and a fantastic time was had by all! P2B extends heartfelt thanks to Cllr George Murray for contributing Ward Funding towards the trip and to Point & Sandwick Trust (PST) for their generous ongoing financial support. Special thanks also go to A. Maclennan Motors for providing the bus and to our excellent driver, Iain. Thanks also to Doune Braes Hotel, Borve Country House Hotel, Gearrannan Blackhouse Village, Cross Stores, Ness Charity Shop and all those that helped along the way”.

Norman Mackenzie, Chair of PST added, “We’ve been very pleased to support P2B activities and their summer bus trip sounds like a great time for everyone. It’s brilliant to see so many residents joined the group this year, its popularity highlights the value of community spirit and shared experiences – fantastic work!”

P2B Community Association is a volunteer-run organisation that relies on fundraising and donations to hold events and activities for residents of their local villages.
